Sitting next to the sea in the north of the island, just outside of Santa Eulalia, Babylon Beach presents a welcoming and unique blend of style and sophistication.
Upon arrival, the first thing we notice is the stunning location, perched on the clifftop overlooking the bay of Sa Caleta. An effervescently friendly receptionist greets us and shows us to our table, perfectly located looking out to sea. The menu is presented on a chalkboard and offers a varied selection of Mediterranean dishes with a few exotic influences thrown in for good measure. A chilled glass of rose is the perfect accompaniment as we wait for our food to arrive, perusing the extensive cocktail list as we wait.
THE CANTINA
We chose to eat in the terrace area, known as the Cantina, where the menu is simple but offers a good choice, ranging from sunlounger snacks such as burritos, served with nachos or chipotle, and a mouthwatering rotisserie chicken. We choose the fishcakes, which are perfectly complemented with a chilli lime sauce. For dessert, it’s a toss up between the lemon drizzle cake or brownie, we eventually choose one of each, and are not disappointed by either. Sun loungers, towels and umbrellas, a floating pontoon, tender service for yachts, and kayaks are an integral part of the service offered to customers to ensure that the day is as enjoyable as the surroundings, whether approaching by sea or boat.
THE RESTAURANT
We walk through to take a peek at the Restaurant Babylon, a new addition in 2013. Here, customers are offered an alternative dining experience. The concept of the restaurant is to offer sumptuous food alongside quality wines and cocktails. The menu is innovative, organic, fresh and delicious, making use of as many island sourced products as possible. The dining area is situated to the rear of the Babylon set up, offering a little more privacy and seclusion. Decoration, as with the rest of Babylon Beach is a mixture of natural woods and fabrics along with art and furniture crafted to make the restaurant both stylish and functional. Stunning seaviews and atmospheric music complete the Babylon Beach restaurant experience. The Restaurant and Cantina are uniquely associated with the only officially certified organic livestock farm on Ibiza. Sourcing many products including meat and vegetables from the farm, they strive to keep the menu as tantalizingly fresh and organic as possible.
CHILDREN’S AREA
For those with young children, or ‘Babylonitos’ as they are referred to here, the adventure playground is unrivalled on the island, offering an enclosed play area built from natural wood. Incorporating a zip wire, climbing wall, tyre swing and sandpit for the smaller children, parents can relax and enjoy themselves, safe in the knowledge that their children are having the time of their lives! Overall, Babylon Beach is making waves by bringing its own sense of style and elegance to the north of the island. With quality food and great, friendly service, we think the future is bright for the Babylon dream.
