Far away from the busy nightclubs and party scene you can discover a different side to Ibiza. The island has a rich heritage and culture dating back to ancient times.

One of the most prevalent aspects of this lies in the food and drink traditional to the island. Here are our top 3 places to visit if you want to unearth a taste of Authentic Ibiza for yourself.

Balafia Nestled away behind the busy San Joan Road, you will step into an Ibiza gone by when you enter the pretty courtyard which is home to the Balafia restaurant. Surround by orange trees, this restaurant has been run by the same family for decades, and is an eternally popular destination for locals and holidaymakers alike. The place is famous for its traditional meat dishes, whilst the home made chips and tomato and onion salad are quite simply the stuff of Ibiza legend. Team this with a portion of the freshly prepared aioli and this is a real taste of authentic Ibiza cuisine which you will never forget. Prices are reasonable and the house wine is excellent.

Can Rich Winery The largest wine producer on the island, this winery is located in the hills of the Buscatell area, near the town of San Antonio. Producing an excellent range of wines, red, white and rose, as well as their own olive oil, the company use only 100% ecological methods. Their products can be found in many shops and supermarkets across the island as well as their own on site store.

Es Boldaldo

If you are a seafood lover, then Ibiza is an ideal destination. The island is awash with fantastic restaurants serving everything from paellas, fish stews to traditional fish dishes. Head to the romantic setting of Es Boldaldo (pictured above), overlooking the mystical rock Es Vedra, for a really authentic menu. We recommend the Bullit de Peix (Ibicencan fish stew with saffron and potatoes) for a true taste of Ibicencan deliciousness.
