Paella is one of Spain’s most famous dishes. Wherever you go in Ibiza there’ll be a restaurant that offers their own version. Inevitably, some are better than others. We’ve picked several Ibiza restaurants that serve a truly authentic Paella, one that completely lives up to all it’s colourful promise.
Port Balansat, Port of San Miguel +34 971 334 527
With fantastic views across the bay of San Miguel, this family-run seafood restaurant is known all across the island for it’s fresh fish and seafood caught each day.
Restaurant Sa Caleta, San Jose +34 971 187 095
Sa Caleta is a tiny, protected cove with vivid red cliffs and calm waters. The small restaurant, perched at the entrance of the cove and overlooking the sea, is a real locals hangout and off the beaten track. To find it, take the turn off just before Cala Jondal. Bookings in high season are a must.
Restaurant Cala Salada, San Antonio +34 971 342 867 and +34 971 344 119
Cala Salada is famous for spectacular sunsets and far less crowded than the nearby San Antonio sunset strip. The lone restaurant, tucked into the cove’s corner gets very busy in the height of summer, particularly Sunday lunch when all the locals descend, so booking is recommended.
Es Bigotes, Cala Mastella near Santa Eularia
This shack of a restaurant is heralded as one of the best seafood restaurants on the island. As well as a great Paella, they also serve an irresistible Bullet de Piex (a tasty local dish made with fresh fish, potatoes and rice). Es Bigotes don’t take reservations over the phone so the only way to secure a table is to go there in person at least a day before to book.
