Every year, we have more and more requests for private catering at villas – an option where guests can kick back and enjoy restaurant service without even leaving their sun lounger.

One of the suppliers we often book for clients is the crew at Dalilicious and the feedback has always been excellent. So much so, we felt it was high time we tried the goods ourselves.

So last Friday, midway through the season, we took to the poolside for an afternoon of sun and relaxation (our mobiles close to hand of course should any guests have called).

Main shot Villa 279

Miles and Markito, the owners of Dalilicous had arrived an hour before to set everything up, looking ever the professionals. When we arrived we were greeted with ice-cold jugs of Cava Sangria and Pimms, along with homemade allioli, fresh bread and olives – the perfect way to kick off and kick back. We quickly settled into the lady of leisure lifestyle as the guys busied themselves preparing lunch.

Promptly at 3pm we were asked to make our way to the lovingly set table – a mere three metres from the aforementioned sun loungers. Ah, life’s tough sometimes.

So… on the menu…

We started off with Mini Chicken Ceasars on Baby Gem Leaves and Crunchy Fish Goujons with a homemade Tartar Sauce. Both dishes brought back memories of summer days of our youth!

For the mains, we had a buffet style service with a number of dishes to tempt and delight us: King Prawns in a Thai Bloody Mary marinade, Beef Shish Kebabs with Tzatziki dressing, Ceviche and a number of salad options; Sweet Tomato Salad (simple but amazing!), Green Salad with Tarragon Dressing, Thai Green Bean Salad and good ol’ Coleslaw. Every dish was fresh, packed with flavour and perfectly suited to the balmy weather.

As the guys kept our drinks topped up, we took our time making the most of a rare afternoon off. Admittedly second and third servings did take place.

Afterwards, as we retreated (well… rolled really) back to the poolside, the makeshift kitchen was quietly packed away and the Dalilicious duo took their leave. We didn’t even have dirty dishes left to wash!

A big thank you to Lucinda for organising the day and a huge thanks to Miles and Markito for great food, great service and plenty of good banter.
