Despite the summer officially finishing a month or so ago, it doesn’t take much for our minds to wonder what Christmas on the white island has in store for us!

It’s that time of year when there is really no excuse; family and friends get together, mulled wine is warming on the stove, log fires are burning, super excited children plus the oh-so-important Christmas tree going up.

In reality though, we are drinking one too many glasses of white wine in the sunshine with the butano gas fire kicking into action once the sun goes down, children who have woken up far too early and the cat/dog has pulled down the Christmas tree for the umpteenth time. Ah we are suckers for this time of year!

This festive period in Ibiza brings a whole host of events planned to ensure that the countdown to Christmas is perfect for everyone.

Christmas Carols

There is nothing better to get you into the Christmas spirit then a good ol’ sing song of carols. It’s an early event for the month of December so be sure not to miss it – Sunday 2 December at San Rafael Church at 10.30. Everyone is welcome and whats more – after the service there are refreshments and your first chance to purchase some cakes and other Christmassy items.

Casa Maca – Ibiza Town

Organizing the first of the winter wonderland markets that will adorn the island. Whilst the actual Christmas market takes place over the weekend of 13 – 16 December they are trying something new for this year. They are asking all local businesses to enter the competition and sponsor a tree. By decorating the tree you are in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes including a night’s stay at Casa Maca. The idea is that when the market opens to the public, there will be an abundance of beautiful Christmas trees. There are of course, specifications with how the competition works, so please do contact them directly on christmas@casamaca.com

Project Social – Santa Eulalia

Head down and sample some of the amazing cupcakes from Cup Cake Collection. There will be an array of mince pies, chocolates, crackers and other treats to purchase which you may have forgotten in the lead up to the big day.

Mulled wine, cocktails and the essential meeting of Father Christmas for the little ones ensures this is definitely a family event you do not want to miss.

Friday 14 December between 4-8pm

Christmas Cancer Fair – Ibiza Town

The big party takes place on Sunday 16 December and what a day! Starting from midday, the queues outside waiting for the doors to open have to be seen to be believed. A variety of stalls from bric-a-brac to the Christmas nibbles and games you would remember from childhood to the fantastic grand auction. The list is endless. There is entertainment going on the main stage all day plus visiting Father Christmas, which without question is magical. The decorating team certainly surpass themselves.

It’s a popular family day which is organized by an amazing team of volunteers – should anyone want to help out on the day please do get in touch with them.

Sunday 16 December – 12-9pm

Christmas Crystal Hunt

For something a little different and away from the build up to Christmas – take a few hours out and head up to the north of the island. They are arranging a walk from a secret location where you can go hunting for crystals. Drink in the stunning scenery on foot, with the odd stop en-route for a Christmas snack whilst comparing your crystal finds. Contact ibizarockclub.com for more information.

Saturday 22 December from 12 noon.

Throughout the month of Advent:

Our pets are just as much part of the family at this special time of year and what a cute idea from Dressed to the Canines Grooming & Cattery.  Doggy advent calendars and crackers means that they will have a ‘woofderful’ countdown to Christmas. They are also doing dog photo shoots to ensure they don’t feel left out!

Available throughout the month of December right up to the big day itself – if you fancy sprinkling the magic of Christmas a little more then why don’t you arrange a personal visit to your home from Father Christmas or Jingles the Elf. Contact Kerryann by email at hola@lovethisibiza.com

This is just a small amount going on within Ibiza – if there is anything else that you would like to be added please do let us know.

Enjoy the countdown to the magical time of the year – the team at Ibiza Summer Villas absolutely love Christmas and may we take this opportunity to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS xx
