Scrummy Sunday Roasts – Our 2016 picks..
Sun, sea, sand and sangria, all things we love about Ibiza. Along with the excellent variety of fine dining restaurants which serve up sumptuous cuisine from across the globe. However, sometimes, we all crave certain home comforts, and for many, nothing can beat a traditional Sunday Roast. So, if you are feeling the need for some seriously good Sunday offerings, then look no further, Ibiza has everything you require, here are a few of our favourites.
Bar Mariposa, Cala Llonga
Situated within the Wild Asparagus holiday complex, this charming family run restaurant is open all year round, but when the holidaymakers leave, the locals arrive, each and every Sunday from September to May to feast on a super Sunday roast. Here you can bask in the winter sunshine, enjoying unforgettable views over the bay of Cala Llonga, or dine inside in the cosy interior, where the warmest welcome awaits you from husband and wife team Joe and Di Vernon, and their daughter Molly. Choose from chicken, lamb, pork or beef, or of you can’t decide, then ask for a mixture and you will be happily obliged. The vegetables are served on the side in sharing bowls and are cooked to perfection everytime. You cannot leave without sampling one of the delicious home made desserts, we recommend the treacle pudding with custard, a devilish Sunday sin for sure! Bar Mariposa has a loyal following so we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
Forty Five´s – Playa dén Bossa
Formally known as JD´s, this family friendly bar and restaurant enjoys a prime location on the beach of Playa dén Bossa. In 2015, new ownership saw it renamed as Forty Fives, and it has gained an ever growing number of regular customers since its rebirth, who come back time and time again to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and great food. Sundays are their busiest day, and they welcome families and large groups, as well as couples, and of course there are screens to enjoy the day’s sports for those who wish too. When it comes to roast dinners they know their stuff and the portions are big enough to satisfy the hungriest appetite! Succulent slices of meat and fresh vegetables with tasty homemade gravy and fluffy Yorkshire puddings, followed by a selection of traditional desserts such as apple crumble will leave you feeling full and satisfied time after time.

The Olive Tree, San Antonio
Since the arrival of new owners Roland and Ana in 2013, The Olive Tree has slowly but surely built up a well deserved reputation for serving an exceptional Sunday Lunch.
This charming and beautifully decorated venue is nestled in a quiet street behind the bay of San Antonio, but when you step inside, you will feel as if you have been transported back to the Uk into an elegant gastropub. You can choose to dine in the welcoming inside area, with traditional features such as the wooden beamed ceiling and fireplace giving a homely feel. Strategically placed televisions will give those who need their Sunday sport fix a thrill, and if you choose to dine alfresco on the terrace, there is no better place to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon than this pretty garden area, with trailing bougainvillea adding to the ambience.
And now to the food. The meat is succulent and cooked to order, choose from lamb, pork, chicken or beef, and the portions are so generous we have to warn you to leave room for one of the excellent desserts. A huge selection of vegetables served to share include mashed carrot and swede, red cabbage, whole honey roasted carrots and crunchy broccoli, delicious. Add a bottle of their excellent house wine and there you have the perfect Sunday afternoon..
