Summer 2015 sees Radio One return to the island to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the much loved Radio One Weekender parties in Ibiza. These annual events have become some of the most hotly anticipated dates on the Ibiza music calendar, with great excitement and hype surrounding the weekend shenanigans.
With a history of spectacular lineups, live broadcasts and a vibrant and friendly atmosphere, this year looks set to be no exception, with the organisers stepping up the tempo to commemorate the 20 year milestone. Summer 2015 will see the Radio One show roll into town from 31st July – 2nd August, with an action packed few days of music and dancing.
Kicking off the celebrations will be the first party of the weekend at Ushuaia on Friday 31st July. Beginning at 7pm and going through until midnight, the party will be hosted by Radio One stalwart Annie Mac and will include sets from big name guests such as Disclosure and Calvin Harris.
Saturday sees Danny Howard, host of the Dance Anthems radio show stepping up to the helm to oversee a four hour event at the world famous Sunset Strip in San Antonio, where he will be joined by two very special acts, Duke Dumont and Rudimental, who will both take to the stage for special live performances to keep the crowds entertained. The Saturday party will run from 7pm until 10pm.
On Sunday, long term Ibiza resident and a firm favourite with all dance music aficionados, Pete Tong will host the grand finale at the eternally popular Ibiza Rocks Hotel, again in San Antonio,. From 8pm until midnight the hotel with its purpose built concert stage will see Faithless and Kolsch setting the tempo and whipping the audience into a frenzy, with some special guests still to be announced.
All of these three parties will be broadcast live and direct on Radio One, as well as Nick Grimshaw’s breakfast show which will be recorded from a secret location on the island on Friday 31st and Monday 3rd July. Another special event hosted by Mistajam will take place on Saturday evening, again with exact timings and details still to be announced, Radio One are keeping some secrets close to their chests to ensure an air of excitement and anticipation throughout the weekend!
If you are not lucky enough to be able to attend the events in person, never fear, you can keep up with all the Ibiza action by either listening live on Radio One, or via the BBC iPlayer radio app. All events will also be streamed on their website and through their YouTube and iPlayer channels.
