Cala Jondal is the last word in Ibiza style and glamour. The beach is home to some of the islands most luxurious and famous beach clubs. Here, the glitterati gather to see and be seen, enjoy fine dining and dance the night away to the sounds of the world’s top DJ’s. It’s not unusual to see A list celebrities from the film and music industry rubbing shoulders with super models and visiting royalty.
Sun and Swim
The beach is located within a conservation area, surrounded by pine forests and rugged cliffs, giving the area an enchanting ambience. The beach itself is not sandy but pebbly, made up of large white stones, which are not the most comfortable of surfaces for sunbathers, however, there are plenty of sunbeds and parasols available for hire. The sea is simply beautiful, turquoise, sparkling waters which offer an irresistible invitation for swimmers. As you walk into the sea, the pebbles give way to soft sand, making it a easy entry. There are also several wooden walkways and jettys out to sea giving easy access for children.
You will see several superyachts moored up in the bay during the summer months, most of the restaurants and beach clubs offer a tender service for visiting boats, making it popular with the sailing community.
Wine and Dine
Possibly the best known beach club in Ibiza is located on Cala Jondal, the famous Blue Marlin. With luxurious daybeds, an elegant restaurant and bar area, this is the islands top spot for those seeking a day of indulgence. The prices are high, but it is none the less eternally popular. The club hosts parties in the evenings, with dancing and fashion shows which carry on until the early hours.
Neighbouring restaurant Yemanja is slightly less well known, but is a favourite for island residents for its unrivalled seafood and meat dishes. Open all year round, the excellent service and consistent quality of the food makes it one of the most enduring restaurants on the island.
Tropicana Beach Club on the other side of Blue Marlin is another glamorous destination. Its waiters clad in pristine white polo shirts dash between sunbed and bar making sure their customers’ every need is attended to. The cava sangria here is one of our favourite tipples.
The beach is located in between Ibiza Town and San Jose, and is only accessible by car (or private yacht!). There is ample parking at each of the restaurants and a valet parking service is available from Blue Marlin. With so many positive qualities, be sure to include Cala Jondal on your Ibiza itinerary.
