Ibiza is known for its hedonistic, decadent and tolerant attitude, and so, it is little wonder that this beautiful Balearic island attracts a huge number of gay visitors each and every year. Coming to enjoy the free spirited lifestyle, exotic club scene and beautiful beaches, there has never been a better time to visit and enjoy the vibrant gay scene which exists here. Here is our guide to the best gay friendly hotspots on the White Isle.

Whilst there are gay friendly and dedicated gay bars and clubs all over the island, the undisputed capital of the scene is Ibiza Town.  One of the best known bars is Angelo’s, which has been a flamboyant and open minded venue for over 40 years.  Known as one of the prime meeting places in the town, the open air terrace attracts a mixed age group and international crowd. Downstairs from Angelo’s you will find Club Lola’s, which is a firm favourite with locals and holidaymakers alike. With a 6am licence, open door policy and some of the coolest DJ’s around, this is quite simply the place to see and be seen. Both of these venues are situated on Calle Alfonso XII. For a more glamorous setting, head up into the walls of the Old Town, to Carrer de la Carrossa in the spectacular setting of Dalt Vila and you will find the famous cruising bar La Muralla. This is known as one of the most exclusive haunts on the island, features private canbins and a dark room, plus an erotic shop, and regularly hosts exotic themed parties, with fancy dress and fetish dress codes.

For more hard core clubbing, head to La Troya, each Sunday at the legendary nightclub Amnesia. Here a colourful crowd including many drag queens and transvestites join together to enjoy a wild and carefree party to some of the biggest DJ’s on the scene. Another popular night is SupermartXé at Privilege. Here the decadent club is packed with beautiful dancers and visual performances, whilst the smaller room Vista Club offers a 100% gay dedicated party, Superman. The party takes place each Friday during the summer.

Whilst all of Ibiza’s beaches are open minded and welcoming, there are a few spots which really attract the gay crowd. Es Cavallet, near the famous salt flats of Salinas is one, and also a popular nudist hangout, so don’t be shocked to see people baring their all here! Figueretas and Talamanca also are favourite spots to swim, sea, sunbathe and check out the talent!

Gay Pride

This summer saw the streets of Ibiza turned into a rainbow striped extravaganza as the gay community turned out in force to celebrate Ibiza’s first official Gay Pride event. The streets of Ibiza Town were full of like minded people, all coming together to support the cause. 5 days of celebrations including street festivals, parades, musical performances and art displays were attended by over 50,000 people, and plans look set for another event next year.
