biza is famous for pristine beaches, full of people and with a party vibe - however If a beach full of revellers and loud music is not your idea of heaven, don't fear, there are a number of idyllic secret Ibiza beaches which are unspoilt by the tourist industry. Here is our guide to the best. But ssshhh.. keep them a secret!
Moon Beach - Calo de S'Illa On the road out of San Juan towards Portinatx, discover Moon Beach. The walk along the rocky path to the beach is worthwhile, when you reach the beach you cannot fail to enjoy the tranquillity and stunning views.
Cala Xuclar
Also on the Portinax Road, this horseshoe shaped cove has a small chiringuito at the top which serves delicious fresh fish and meat dishes. The beach itself is small but the clear waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, with privacy. What more could you ask for!
S’Ilot Des Rencli
Around 5km north of San Joan lies the picture perfect beach, S’Ilot Des Rencli. Although small in size the waters are crystal clear. It is also an ideal place to watch the sunset away from the crowds of the more well known sunset spots
Cala Saladita
Yet another secret sunset spot, this time on the otherside of the island just outside San Antonio. Cala Saladita can be reached by a rather energetic trek across the rocks from the neighbouring beach Cala Salada. Popular with snorkelers due to the wide variety of marine life in the area, the trek accross the rocks is most certainly worth the end result.
Es Xarcu
The drive down to the beach of Es Xarcu is probably one of the reasons it is one of our secret beaches! Take a wrong turn and you could easily miss this little gem. Take the road from San Josep and follow the signs to Es Cubells, then Porroig, and you will find the camino which leads down to the bay. A small but elegant chiringuito is the perfect spot to revive your senses with a cocktail or two after the drive!
Cala d’en Serra
This oval shaped bay is surrounded by stunning high cliffs, making it a private and peaceful spot. Fisherman’s shacks at the right hand side of the beach are a reminder of the bay’s popularity with the locals. You can find this stunning bay on the north coast, just past the town of Portinatx.
Es Bol Nou
This beach is one of only a few which has a restaurant open the whole year round, making it a popular spot for locals. The cliffs either side offer good protection from the wind out of season. Situated between the airport and Cala Jondal, it is often referred to as Sa Caleta, which is actually the name of the restaurant itself. We highly recommend both these locations for a lovely day out away from the masses!
