Safety Tips whilst holidaying in Ibiza.
Ibiza has a relatively low crime rate, and is generally a safe place. However, there are steps you can take to ensure that your holiday is as hassle free as possible. It’s easy to get carried away in the moment whilst on holiday here, so follow our guide to staying safe.
Taxis
There are usually plenty of taxis available in Ibiza. You will see designated taxi stands in most towns where you can catch a taxi to your chosen destination. In the height of summer there may be a large queue at times, but don’t be tempted to skip the line in favour of a ‘pirate’ taxi. Sometimes unlicensed drivers hover around the queues and offer a ride for a reduced fare. However, illegal taxis are unsafe, often uninsured, and very much illegal. Be sure to stick with licensed cabs which are clearly marked with distinctive green and yellow signage.
Sunscreen

Temperatures can soar in the summer months so pack plenty of sunscreen, a hat and a cover up for the midday sun. Children especially can suffer from heatstroke or sunburn so look for shaded areas around the beach or pool, or hire an umbrella to protect their delicate skin.
Valuables
As previously mentioned, crime rates are low on the island. However, during peak season there are often opportunist thieves who may target busy beaches or restaurants. Be alert and keep your valuables safely stowed away in your bag. A top tip is to take an empty bottle of suncream, cut it in half and use it to keep keys, money and other valuable safe whilst out and about.
Party sensibly!
As the clubbing capital of the world, Ibiza has a wealth of nightclubs and beach clubs where you can let your hair down and dance the night away. But always be careful not to overdo it, drink water in between alcoholic drinks and avoid any illegal substances! Pickpockets may prey on party goers who appear to be worse for wear, so keep your money and valuables safely in your bag or pockets.
Car safety If hiring a car, always use a reputable hire car company who will have adequate insurance and roadside assistance should you need it. You will need to bring your paper and card licence with you for each driver. Never leave valuables on show in your vehicle, and always park in allocated spaces, buying a parking ticket where necessary, to avoid being towed away. Spain has very strict drink driving laws, so be sure not to over indulge if you are the designated driver!
